Dubrovnik is a beautiful, historic city in Croatia, but it can get quite expensive. It is also a popular destination for ‘Game of Thrones’ fans as a lot of the series was filmed here. Despite that, I think it is still worth going, and you can pick which activities to do if you’re on a budget to limit your cost. In all honesty, just seeing and walking around the city was a wonderful experience.
But before we get into the details, this blog has various links embedded so you can quickly access the things I talk about. Some of those links may be affiliate meaning I earn some commission through them however this is a disclaimer that this does not influence my opinion, and will not cost you more. I will still share my honest thoughts and only recommend what I would do myself.
So, cost-wise, our flights from Leeds to Dubrovnik in late April were £185 for a return per person (including seats). This is a bit higher than what we usually would go for regarding flights, but only Jet2 was flying from Leeds, and as we were going with friends, this was key.
Our Airbnb was £100 per person for 4 nights, and activities cost us around £110 each (more detailed breakdown below). The apartment was called ‘Magical View Apartment’ and was about a 20 minute walk from the Old Town.

You can also compare Airbnb and Booking.com offers – as you can get discounts and deals with booking.com, so I usually go between them. We considered these:
You can just click on the links and it will take you to the page – just make sure to change to your dates for accurate pricing and availability!
The total cost for flights and accommodation was £285 per person which is actually a good price for a European city break. A useful tip is to look at the whole cost for the trip and not just flights, and then decide if the trip will be within your budget and comfort.
You can book an Uber from and to the airport (as they’re pretty affordable compared to other places) or book a coach transfer – link here.
We had 3 full days in Dubrovnik which was enough to do the main attractions and relax. You can find what we did below:
Activities:
Explore Old Town – free

Walking City Walls – Dubrovnik Pass was 35 euros each which gave access to the walls and other attractions such as museums.
A warning that it gets very very slippy on the walls when wet so be careful! I nearly fell many times!

Relaxing on the Pier – free

Cable Car ride to viewpoint – 27 euros each
More information here.
Peacock Island (Lokrum) – 25 euros each. We booked this from a tour office, located right on the pier. You will see the posters!

Day trip to Kravica Waterfalls and Mostar – £40 each – we booked this through GetYourGuide and really enjoyed it!

Mostar
Other activities you can do:
All linked so feel free to check them out.
Food can also get expensive, especially if you eat near the main attractions but it is also comparable to other major European cities like Barcelona, London or Venice. We did enjoy the local dishes so make sure to try those!
We thought the trip overall was worth it, and we really enjoyed our time in Dubrovnik!
Feel free to ask any questions or share your experiences 🙂
