A city I would recommend to anyone. The architecture is truly breath-taking, and the trip can be done on a budget so it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune!

I will still share my honest thoughts and only recommend what I would do myself.
Our flight from Edinburgh at the end of March were £120 return, per person – I did see cheaper deals in Manchester and London but with the travel to them, it would have cost us about the same, but would have added way more time of travelling.
We stayed at the easyHotel Budapest Oktogon, for 2 nights, and that cost us £70 in total for 2 people!
So, our flights and accommodation was only £155 per person!
You can easily get from the airport to the city, and vice versa with the direct shuttle bus. You can read ore about it here.
This costs around £5 one way, per person.
For our activities, we didn’t pay for much, yet we saw a lot in just 2 days!

Vajdahunjad castle and Hero’s Square
I think this castle is a hidden gem! Not as crowded as other places, and gives fairytale vibes!

Finish the day by trying a chimney cake – local to Hungary!

We didn’t get to do them based on timing, but you could fit them into Day 1, as the Buda Castle is near the Fisherman Bastion, and you could add the thermal baths in the evening – we were just too tired after our 6am flight!
Food wise, I would say the average daily cost was £25 per person. The places were popular, but not overly expensive.

- Zoo Cafe – make sure to reserve 1-2 weeks in advance as it’s popular!
That wraps our trip up – it was short and sweet, and pretty affordable. It can easily be done on a low budget as you can find cheap flights and hotels, and most sights are free!
